The Care Ritual

Know your
fabrics.
Love them longer.

Whether it's a piece from Aravella's Wardrobe or something you already love in your closet — knowing your fabrics and how to care for them makes every garment last longer, feel better, and mean more.

Step 1 — Choose Your Method

Wash with intention.

Organic fabrics breathe, soften, and age beautifully with the right care. Every wash is a choice — the gentler the method, the longer the life of your garment.

01. Hand Washing

Hand washing is the best option for any garment — specifically delicate pieces — to reduce wear and preserve color.

1.

Fill a sink or basin with cold water.

2.

Add a natural, biodegradable detergent free of artificial fragrance, bleach, optical brighteners, sulfates, and dioxane.

3.

Submerge your garment fully in the water.

4.

Gently swirl and squeeze the fabric — do not wring or twist.

5.

Drain the basin and rinse with cold water.

6.

Lift and gently press out excess water without stretching the fabric.

Lay FlatLay garment flat on a clean towel to dry. Best for knits and silk.
Hang DryHang on a padded or wooden hanger away from direct sunlight.
No Tumble DryNever machine dry organic luxury pieces — heat degrades natural fibers.
02. Machine Washing

Machine washing is the fastest method, but can have adverse effects on your garments if not done with care.

1.

Wait until you have a full load — partial loads waste energy and water.

2.

Always select cold water. Better for the earth and your clothing.

3.

Select normal or delicate/gentle cycle depending on the item.

4.

Use high spin to remove as much water as possible before drying.

5.

Add a natural, biodegradable detergent free of artificial fragrance and bleach.

6.

Use a mesh laundry bag for delicate items to protect fabric.

7.

Air dry always. Never tumble dry Aravella pieces.

03. Dry Cleaning

Dry cleaning preserves the integrity of your most structured and delicate Aravella pieces — recommended for peace silk and block-printed gowns.

1.

Take the garment to a trusted dry cleaner as soon as possible after a stain.

2.

Point out any stains or areas of concern before leaving the garment.

3.

Ask for wet cleaning or CO₂ cleaning — gentler, non-toxic alternatives.

4.

Remove garments from plastic bags immediately and air out on a padded hanger before storing.

5.

Store clean garments in breathable cotton garment bags — never long-term plastic.

04. No Washing

The best care for your clothing and the earth is to avoid laundering as much as possible. Natural fibers need far less washing than you think.

1.

Spot clean as needed. For small marks, wash only the problem zone using a natural soap.

2.

Sun washing naturally kills bacteria. Lay clothing in direct sunlight for one hour on each side.

3.

Air your garments after each wear. Hang outside or near an open window — organic fibers breathe and self-refresh remarkably well.

Step 2 — Know Your Fabric

Every thread
has its ritual.

Aravella uses certified organic fabrics — each with its own care language. Hover over each fabric to reveal its full care guide.

01 Organic Cotton GOTS Certified · Breathable · Durable

The most versatile fabric in the Aravella collection. Sturdy enough for machine washing when treated with care.

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle always.
Tumble dry low if needed — air dry extends life.
Iron on medium heat while slightly damp.
Store folded, not hung — cotton stretches under its own weight.
02 Peace Silk Ahimsa Silk · Fluid · Luminous

Aravella's most elevated fabric. Peace silk allows the silkworm to complete its lifecycle. Luminous and requires the most devoted care.

Dry clean only, or hand wash cold with silk-specific cleanser.
Never wring. Roll in a clean towel to absorb moisture.
Hang dry in shade — direct sun fades and weakens silk.
Iron on lowest setting, inside out, with a pressing cloth.
03 Organic Linen Crisp · Structured · Timeless

Used in Aravella's structured sets and outerwear. Softens beautifully with every wash and gets better with age.

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle — linen is resilient.
Do not over-wash: linen develops character the less it is laundered.
Hang or lay flat to dry. Light ironing while damp gives a crisp finish.
Slight wrinkling is natural and beautiful — it is part of linen's identity.
Step 3 — Special Care

Some pieces need
an extra layer of devotion.

Naturally DyedNatural dyes are sensitive to pH, sun, and washing. Always use a pH-neutral, biodegradable detergent. Dye may bleed slightly in early washes — this is expected and normal. Hang dry away from direct sunlight. Never rub or wring.
Block PrintedDry clean is recommended to preserve the integrity of block-printed designs. If you prefer to hand wash, use cold water only — the print may soften slightly, giving the piece a naturally aged beauty. Never machine wash block-printed pieces.
DenimWash no more than every 10 wears. Before washing, try spot cleaning and airing inside out in sunlight. When washing is necessary: cold water only, turn inside out, biodegradable detergent, air dry.
